Our priestly duty of proclaiming the Gospel!
Ten of us are visiting the Philippines at the end of September. We will be spreading out and seeking to ‘encourage’ the various areas of our Barnabas Ministry Partnerships from Manila to Mindanao.
Russell & Gerrie Chadwick, their son Rigby, and Bob Francis will be based with Pastor Roderick at ACJM Manila. They will be conducting a School of Ministries, as well as Youth and Evangelistic events, both in Manila and in a network group of churches in Nueva Ecija.
Jim & Evelyn, Bob & Jan Schroeder and Wilf & Jenny Wilford will move south to Mindanao. First to CDO Lifeline Ministries Team in Cagyan D’Ora, then to Pastor Joe Orbe in Iligan, finally moving on to spend the remainder of time with Pastor Gloria in Maranding.
Preaching the Gospel where Christ is not known.
Mindanao is one of the remaining mission fields in the world where because of religious, tribal, ethnic reasons some areas are virtually un-reached and Christ is not known.
Mindanao is 293 miles long and 324 miles wide, which is only a little smaller than England. It has a population of around 20,000,000. More than a quarter of the population are Muslim; in some of the tribal areas there are strange mixtures of Christian, Muslim and Animist beliefs and practices.
Cdo LifeLine Medical Mission and Lanao Gospel to the Nations, which are our partnership ministries in Mindanao, have the Apostle Paul’s vision of proclaiming the Gospel where Christ is not known – this often brings then into imminent danger.
Some anticipated ‘High Lights’ of this Visit.
- Conducting the first module of the School of Ministries programme, both in Manila and Mindanao. We have begun to ‘network’ with The New Community Church Southampton, whose ‘School of Ministries International’ now reaches out into many different nations.
- Renewing fellowship with Pastor Raymond in Nueva Ecija and the network of churches there. They are some two hours drive north from Manila, in a very economically poor and rural agricultural area.
- Joining the CDO Team as they conduct a medical mission on Saturday 13th Oct. in the Prayer Mountain vicinity.
- Joining with Pastor Gloria and the churches in that area of Mindanao, as we celebrate together and dedicate the opening of the Prayer Mountain Conference Centre
